Another Obama ‘Line’ Goes Up in Smoke
Ronald Reagan said: “Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. We didn’t pass it on to our children in the bloodstream. It must be fought for, protected, and handed on for them to do the same, or one day we will spend our sunset years telling our children and our children’s children what it was once like in the United States where men were free.” Indeed, in the era of big government and lack of leadership today, when one looks at what America has become under President Obama, they may not know whether to laugh or to cry. It’s shameful and terrible.
There has not in recent history been a time that American foreign policy has been more in a shambles.
There’s a revolution amidst in the Ukraine, and Obama yesterday said: “I want to be very clear as we work through these next several days in Ukraine that we’re going to be watching closely, and we expect the Ukrainian government to show restraint, to not resort to violence in dealing with peaceful protesters. We’ve also said we expect peaceful protesters to remain peaceful, and we’ll be monitoring very closely the situation, recognizing that with our European partners and the international community there will be consequences if people step over the line.”
Given Obama’s record of betraying allies and of breaking his word, the best thing he can do to protect American interests is just be quiet. Rather than breaking promises and doing nothing the man can serve America best with silence. Does he think the Ukrainians didn’t notice Egypt (where he broke promises to Mubarak), Syria (where every red line was crossed), or Iran (where Putin and Iran did as they wish)?
On another front, we constantly hear about how Social Security is going to run out of money. How come we never hear about welfare running out of money? Why is it that those who worked for their money are taxed throughout their life (and then have to face a death tax), yet they wouldn’t be able to have their money in their golden years? If indeed Social Security is going to run out of money, then why is it that government under Obama keeps expanding and growing (Obamacare), unemployment insurance and bigger and bigger government? Can it make any sense? Do we laugh or cry?
How is it that in his interview with Bill O’Reilly, President Obama equated the GI Bill with welfare? The GI Bill is for blood and tears for defending our great nation. As Scott Taylor, a member of the Virginia House of Delegates said, GI’s “earn [the benefits] in blood, many of them. This ‘entitlement’ if you will is certainly not welfare. It’s something that our GI’s have earned and will continue to earn. It’s contractual; it’s not like food stamps or disability [payments] that have expanded exponentially under this president.” Along these lines, The Food Stamp Program, administered by the U.S. Department of Agriculture is distributing this year the greatest amount of free Meals and Food Stamps ever — to 47 million people, according to the most recent 2013 statistics.
Rather than urging companies to raise minimum wage, perhaps the government should realize that a job is the best form of welfare. While welfare is necessary in some cases, as Reagan said, “welfare’s purpose should be to eliminate, as far as possible, the need for its own existence.” “America the Great” under Obama behaves like a European State.
In any case, I now need to go back to work for the government, as with our current tax codes I work more of the year for the government than I do my PR agency.
The government keeps growing under the impotent leadership of Barack Obama, and it’s awful to watch American honor continue to fall under this Administration. God bless America.
