Ted Nugent Skewers the Gov’t — and the American Public: ‘Dumbest, Most Unappreciative Society in the History of Humankind’

October 9, 2013

Rocker Ted Nugent has never been shy about his political views. This week, the 65-year-old musician is promoting “Ultralive Ballisticrock,” his new live CD and DVD, but that hasn’t stopped him from also sharing his candid opinions about President Barack Obama and the current state of sociopolitical affairs.

Never a stranger to Second Amendment touting or government critique, Nugent perfectly summarized his views during a recent interview with The Associated Press: “The government is so out of control.”

But it’s not only federal bureaucracy that has the rocker frustrated. The American people, too, are at fault, he says.

“The government is so out of control. It is so bloated and infested with fraud and deceit and corruption and abuse of power,” he told the AP. “The American government today will go down and the American people, it breaks my heart to say … will go down as the dumbest, most unappreciative society in the history of humankind.”

As usual, there was no love lost for Obama, whom Nugent described as unqualified and a “monster in the White House.” While he didn’t place all of the blame on the president for the current state of affairs (he admitted that the government’s mismanagement has long been problematic), he believes that incompetence is at its worst under this administration.

Again, being candid is in Nugent’s DNA. He’s made his disdain and distrust for the government known many times before.

These most recent comments follow Nugent’s claims during the summer that liberals were to blame for Detroit’s bankruptcy. In May, he told TheBlaze that he believes many in the media are “soulless” and he criticized those who abandon the tenets of “honest journalism.”

“I just don’t trust the government. I don’t trust the government that claims it’s going to reduce the budget while they increase the budget,” he told CNN’s Erin Burnett back in April.
